Frangipane Croissant & Pain Au Chocolat

Tartine Bakery is one of the most famous, if not the most famous world-renowned bakery in San Francisco. It is known for its baked goods, but also the quality of everything it offers.

I recommend trying the Country Loaf, Frangipane Croissant, Pain Au Chocolat.

The Country Loaf is a long-fermented heirloom grain and a naturally leavened loaf, which means all-natural fermentation. The freshly milled heirloom grain is from the Pacific Northwest. The texture of this bread's crust is hard & crisp, but the inside is soft with many irregular bubbles. The flavor is fresh & slightly sweet, like an enriched dough, but the after flavor is slightly tangy. After tasting this bread, you will immediately understand why it's the most popular item on the menu.

The Frangipane Croissant is a frangipane filled croissant that has gotten baked twice. It gets topped with slivered almond, frangipane, and powdered sugar. Frangipane is a sweet almond filling that is between a custard and a paste. The filling is sweet & decadent with almond flavor, which contrasts the flaky & crispy outer part of the paper-thin croissant and its buttery soft inside. The slivered almonds add an extra element of texture.

The Pain Au Chocolat is a Valrhona chocolate croissant. The croissant has a vast amount of paper-thin layers. The outside is flaky and crispy, but the inside is soft & buttery like the Country Loaf. The intensity and amount of the Valrhona chocolate complement the croissant perfectly.

Tartine Bakery is one of the best bakeries I have tried. The attention to textural & flavor detail on top of the balance of each ingredient is phenomenal. You can say you have had outstanding bread & pastries if you have tried Tartine Bakery.
