Sakesan Sushi & Robata

One of the newer generation restaurants in the city is Sakesan Sushi & Robata. It reflects the love & obsession with sushi we locals have. It serves a wide range of fresh sushi and other Japanese foods.

I love their Satsuma Tempura, Cherry Blossom Roll, and 49ers Roll.

The Satsuma Tempura is purple yam deep-fried in tempura batter. I have had tempura many times before, but this is the only place I know that offers Satsuma Tempura. The purple yam is perfectly cooked, and the tempura is crisp yet not greasy.

The Cherry Blossom Roll is a salmon avocado Uramaki roll, sushi roll with rice on the outside, topped with tuna and Tobiko, flying fish roe. The fish is fresh and buttery, while the ratio of rice to fish to avocado & Tobiko is on point.

The 49ers Roll is a salmon, avocado, cucumber Uramki roll topped with more salmon and thin lemon slices. It is very refreshing with the acidity and bitterness of the lemon. Again, the ratio of rice to fish to avocado & Tobiko is on point.
